Bar Cottage

Bar Cottage in the quaint, North Cornish, fishing village of Port Isaac, is a traditional cottage that exudes charm & character. Sleeping up to four guests, Bar Cottage is ideally suited for a small family or a couple seeking a romantic break one the beautiful North Cornish coast. Sitting in Dolphin Street which meanders down through  'squeezee belly Alley' to the pretty but bustling harbour which you may recognise as the TV set for Doc Martin the ever popular TV series filmed in and around the village and the movie Fisherman’s friends based on the famous chanty singers from Port Isaac. 

The cottage has been lovingly restored from the ground up, to provide exceptionally comfy accommodation complete with wood burner and traditional Aga to cook and warm the house. 

Enter through a walled courtyard garden to the front entrance, a half glazed stable door which leads directly into the open plan living area . The spacious living room has the original traditional blue stone slate floor with underfloor heating. You really do feel like you are sitting in a pretty little piece of Port Isaac history.  This is a beautiful  light room with high beamed ceilings &  sash windows. Climb the wooden staircase to two pretty double bedrooms both benefitting from having en-suite shower rooms.

The courtyard is a suntrap, with high walls providing  a sense of privacy, a place for al fresco dining.

From your base in the centre of Port Isaac you can walk around the harbour and watch the fishing  boats steam in from sea,  wander the narrow streets and look at the traditional buildings, or enjoy wonderful local produce in the pubs and restaurants.

Port Isaac is one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nested in a steep sided valley.  The old part of the village remains unchanged from its days of pilchard fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century .Only 10 mintues drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock.
